Workboat Hire

We provide a fleet of versatile, MCA-coded workboats available for hire, perfect for a variety of marine tasks across the Thames Estuary, Medway, and beyond. Our workboats are regularly used for safety boat operations, survey work, and support for marine construction projects, with the capability to handle everything from crew transport to heavy marine operations.

Recent projects have included providing transport for Sky TV crews covering a stranded whale in the Thames and assisting with major salvage operations.

Marine Civil Engineering & Construction

In addition to our maritime services, we specialize in marine civil engineering and construction, with extensive experience working on large-scale projects along the Thames and Medway rivers. We’ve completed a wide range of projects, including dismantling and rebuilding piers, embankment clearance, sea wall repairs, and fender and dock repairs for ports.

Our civil engineering services include:

Our recently upgraded machine shop offers a full range of fabrication and repair services, including the ability to manufacture prop shafts, custom fittings, and a variety of other parts. Ship Stores Delivery

At Mike’s Boatyard, we offer a reliable ship stores delivery service, ensuring vessels are fully stocked with the necessary supplies. Whether your vessel is moored along the Thames or further out into the anchorages, our fleet can transport everything from food and equipment to spare parts and lubes. We handle the logistics with care, delivering your ship stores safely and efficiently, so your operations run smoothly, no matter the location.

Vessel Maintenance & Repairs

At Mike’s Boatyard, we offer a comprehensive vessel maintenance service, ensuring your boat remains in top condition—whether it needs routine care or a complete refit. Our skilled team can handle a wide range of maintenance tasks, including:

  • Marine Electrical Work – Our in-house marine electrician can install, repair, and upgrade electrical systems.

Welding & Fabrication

Our yard is fully equipped with skilled welders who can carry out a range of welding and fabrication services for both marine and industrial applications. Whether it’s structural repairs, custom welding, or specialised fabrication, our team is ready to meet your needs.

Services include:

  • Stainless steel and aluminum welding

With our advanced equipment and experienced team, we provide high-quality welding solutions for a range of marine and industrial projects.

Wharfage Facilities

Our wharf is equipped to accommodate boats up to 8 tons, with services for both short-term and long-term storage. Whether your boat is staying for maintenance, craned out for cleaning or anti-fouling, or laid up for the winter, we provide a secure and efficient space for all your needs.

Facilities on-site include:

  • Water and electricity supply
  • Crane facilities for lifting and maintenance
  • 60m NAABSA wharf accommodating vessels and barges of a draft to 2m (depending on tide hight)
  • Ideal for MOB or DEMOB, especially for projects on the Thames

Many vessels, from fishing boats to barges and cruisers, stay on-site for repairs or seasonal storage.

Moorings

We offer a variety of mooring options, including deep water and mud moorings, along with all necessary equipment to secure your vessel. Our team also provides mooring installation, maintenance, and servicing for various types of vessels, from yachts to barges.

Our mooring services include:

  • Mooring installation (chains, anchors, etc.)
  • Mooring maintenance and servicing
  • Custom mooring setups for different vessel types

With years of experience in mooring maintenance, we ensure your vessel stays securely moored, no matter the conditions.

Salvage Operations

Our salvage team has years of experience recovering boats and other vessels, working with both insurance companies and private boat owners. We utilize specialized lifting equipment, workboats, and occasionally divers to recover both repairable and wrecked vessels.

Our salvage services include:
